The CSL Group Environmental Report 2010

The CSL Advantage

CSL International belt conveyor self-unloaders are complete transportation and bulk handling systems that offer

    • a range of unloading rates up to 5,000 tonnes per hour
    • the ability to discharge on shore or off shore with no, or at least minimal, capital investment at the receiving facility.
    • 24 hour a day operations, 7 days a week
    • elimination of cargo wastage and degradation
    • environmentally responsible discharging with enclosed boom dust collections systems, water sprays and dust suppressants.

The benefits of CSLI’s self-unloaders are:

Speed
At speeds up to 5,000 tonnes per hour, discharge is faster than conventional dry-bulk carriers.  This reduces turnaround time by freeing up congested berths, thus reducing port costs and demurrage while providing more cargo in a shorter time

Versatility
Since they do not require shore-based discharge systems, self-unloaders can operate and discharge cargo in any accessible waterway.

Efficiency
Self-unloaders can operate 24 hours a day without the expense of stevedores or clean-up crews, thus speeding up cargo handling while reducing port costs and demurrage.

Cost Effectiveness
Self-unloaders are able to deliver more useable product than conventional vessels by virtually eliminating waste and contamination.  With their high discharging speed and the reduced capital and labour costs that would be required on shore based systems, self-unloading vessels can reduce the cargo’s overall delivered cost per ton.

Environmental Advantage
CSLI self-unloaders are equipped with advanced dust control equipment.  Dust collection units are situated throughout the cargo handling areas, and the discharge booms are fitted with water sprayers to further reduce migrant dust during discharge.  Our vessels are equipped with either fully enclosed or covered booms, further increasing the level of environmental protection
